For any number of reasons, scenes are cut from movies. These scenes may explain a plot point in greater detail, tell a joke, or show off an Easter egg to be enjoyed by fans. Since these scenes were good enough to advance from the script to the camera, they are considered canon within the Dark Universe unless they are contradicted by a published scene in a movie.
